TRUTH OR ARROGANCE

I am the light of the world.Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.
John 8:12

Jesus is either arrogant or seriously mislead, or correct and worshiped with complete surrender. Either way He leaves no room for compromise. With these words, He will either be unmasked, or confirmed as the Son of God. Jesus’ words are opened to be tested.

That the world is covered in darkness is a given. It’s the only thing that the media reports on. Small rays of light are rare. Is Jesus truly the light of the World? How can we test this? One way is to look at the ones who follow him. Do they truly have the light of life?

Are you one of the followers? What does your life look like? Were you in the dark at first and now have found the light that gives life? Witnessing about your faith is important.

God bless you.

FEAST OF THE PRESENTATION OF THE LORD

Saturday February 2nd, 2019

Today’s Gospel reflection from Bishop Robert Barron, tells us of the presentation of Jesus in the Temple. The Temple, in a sense was literally, the dwelling place of the Lord. “Where Divinity and humanity embraced and was brought back online with God”.

In those days the sins of Israel, according to Ezekiel the prophet, caused the glory of God to depart from the Temple. So then it was their strongest desires “to reestablish the Temple of right praise so that the glory of God might return”. the glory of Yahweh returns to his favorite dwelling as Joseph and Mary enters in with the infant Jesus.

He knew all the old prophesies and Simeon embodied the expectation of the nation. He was “given a revelation that he would not die until he laid eyes on his Savior”.

GOD BLESS YOU!

THE NATURE OF LOVE

If I have faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor... that I boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. (1 Corinthians 13: 2-3)

Paul goes on in 4-7 to give the definition of love. Love is not boastful or easily angered; love is patient , kind, humble;honors others, seeks others‘ benefit , and keeps no records of wrongs. So it is not enough to go through outward shows of charity.

You may wonder,”How may I give all that I have to the poor and not have love? Isn’t such giving definitive proof of love I have for the poor? But Paul writes that if your have selfish motives it is all for nothing.

Jesus promised in Matthew’ Gospel (21:21)... “but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’it will be done”. But Paul added if we have faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, we are nothing. So Love God and others.

God Bless You.

Lord help us to truly love, to be motivated by love in all that we do, not merely go through the motions of being generous and caring.
